TAUS Care’s Commitment to Child Safety and Wellbeing

All TAUS Care’s staff must agree to abide by the organisation’s Child Safe Code of Conduct and Staff Code of Conduct, which specify the standards of conduct (acceptable and unacceptable behaviours) required when working with children and young people. As with all TAUS Care policies and procedures, all staff, as well as children and young people and their families, are given the opportunity to contribute to the continuous improvement of both Codes of Conduct.

  • TAUS Care has zero tolerance of placing children or young people at risk of harm, including abuse and neglect, and all allegations and safety concerns will be treated very seriously and consistently with our robust policies and procedures.
  • TAUS Care is committed to preventing risks of harm to children and young people, including abuse, by identifying risks early and removing and reducing these risks.
  • TAUS Care has legal and moral obligations to contact authorities when we are concerned about a child or young person’s safety or wellbeing.
  • All TAUS Care’s staff and volunteers have obligations to act ethically towards children and young people to ensure their safety and wellbeing.
  • TAUS Care has robust human resources and recruitment practices for all staff. TAUS Care is committed to regularly training and educating our staff on identifying and responding to potential risks of harm to children and young people, including abuse risks.
  • TAUS Care is committed to upholding the right to Cultural Safety for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people as well as children and young people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds., It is also committed to providing a safe environment for children and young people with a disability.
  • TAUS Care is committed to protecting children and young people’s personal information, and the personal information of their parents and families. All personal information considered or recorded will respect the privacy of the individuals involved, whether they be staff, volunteers, parents or children and young people, unless there is a risk to someone’s safety. Everyone is entitled to know how this information is recorded, what will be done with it, and who will have access to it. TAUS Care has processes in place to seek parental and children and young people’s consent for relevant activities and information gathering.
